Employee Awards and Contracts

The award interpretation features of Wage Easy Payroll place it well ahead of its competitors in that Wage Easy Payroll is able to handle all existing and likely future employment conditions. Almost all employment conditions are catered for in the standard version of Wage Easy Payroll. However, for unusual employment conditions, advanced users can add program scripting to customise the program.

In documenting Wage Easy Payroll, we have used the term ‘award’ to cover all types of employment conditions. In this sense, awards include individual contracts, enterprise bargaining agreements and Federal and State awards.

The award files in Wage Easy Payroll hold most of the employment condition factors used in calculating the payroll. These factors include such things as pay rates for normal time; loadings for overtime, shift, public holidays, rostered days off and meal breaks; superannuation; Workers’ compensation; all categories of leave; termination; and severance. Award files may be created to suit employees on weekly, fortnightly, four weekly or monthly pay periods, and within a company, it is possible to have several pay frequencies. Awards may also be created for employees on different work hours schemes, including casual and salaried employees.

Each employee must be linked with an applicable award file. The relevant award file is then used in conjunction with the employee’s time sheet when calculating the pay slip. If all employees in the business work under the same employment conditions or award, only one award file will be need to be established for the business.

Wage Easy Payroll has been designed to allow flexibility whilst minimising the set up and maintenance work. If you are a member of an employer association, it may be possible to use the Wage Easy Payroll internet facilities to download all of the required award files, ready for instant use. A wizard is provided to simplify the creation of an award and this will guide the user through the few compulsory areas.

A unique award file needs to be established for each different award used in the company, and there is no restriction on the number of award files that can be created. In establishing an award file, Wage Easy Payroll makes many educated guesses so that it is not necessary to make many complex settings for a simple award. To handle minor variations between employees, an existing award file can be copied and used as the basis for creating a new award file.
