For organisations using intranet systems, the Wage Easy Payroll Intranet Option can offer a range of distributed work flow functions. The basic Intranet Option is a flexible framework that can be adapted to suit the particular requirements of organisations, managers and employees as described below. The Intranet Option consists of software that can be used to communicate directly with the Wage Easy Payroll system using standard intranet communication protocols. It uses the existing intranet user identification and security services to control access to specified data areas within the system. The option of view-only or edit modes may be set as required. Access to certain employee files can also be controlled, with each employee being able to open their own file, and managers having access to subordinate staff files. Intranet interaction with Wage Easy Payroll is also physically flexible as access can be gained, where approved, via desktop computer, kiosk, and/or the internet. Typical areas where it may be desirable to allow individual employee full access to their file include address and contact details, next of kin, individual reminders, and bank account details. View only access may be useful for answering their own queries in relation to leave availability and pay history. It is also possible to make leave applications via the intranet, for later approval by their manager (also via the intranet). Line managers can easily view a full range of financial and work performance reports for their relevant employee group, created from data extracted from Wage Easy Payroll. Access can also be granted to specified information within the employee files of those under their control, and this allows managers to easily perform the HR functions including career planning and control, directly within the employee file. Real savings can be made with the Intranet Option as it is technically more feasible to give many people access to relevant data via the intranet, than by allowing direct access to the Wage Easy Payroll database. Transmission of the limited amount of data that is required for each intranet page is very fast, and very simple, given the existing security structure of the intranet. There is less requirement for administration processing and staff and managers can have faster and more direct access to the data needed to perform well, and thus feel empowered in the process. There are no real limits to the benefits that can be gained with the Wage Easy Payroll Intranet Option.
